Story

Can waste sing? This project explores rhythm through reclaimed materials, transforming discarded objects into a functioning maracas. Inspired by Latin American percussion traditions, I focused on how form, weight, and texture shape both sound and movement.

The result: a maracas that tells two stories. One through its sound, another through its materials. The entire journey, from garbage to groove, was captured in a 1-minute film that blends sound design with visual storytelling.

Type: Art & Design Exploration

Year: 2023

Project Duration: 1 weeks

Category: Sound design, upcycling, physical prototyping

Role: Concept development, material experimentation, model-making, film production

Note: Some video clips are sourced from Ziggy Marley's live session with Guitar Center. View the original performance here.

Brief

Traditional maracas reimagined through waste materials. Where sound, sculpture, and sustainability meet.
